Salsa On1
Salsa On1, or LA Style salsa, it is danced in a line. It was created by the Vazquez Brothers in the 90s. It’s one of the most popular forms of salsa dancing in the world, and it’s very strong because the timing is accentuated on 1. Its basic step it’s executed forward and then backward. It’s good to note its variations in turns and breaks within inside the music which makes it a very attractive salsa dance style and in musicality.
Salsa On2
Salsa On2, or New York Style, also known as Eddie Torres’ style, is an extension from the mambo danced in the 50s. In this case, it is also danced in a line, however, its timing its accentuated on 2 and 6. The lead begins dancing backward and then forward and viceversa for the follow. Rhythmically, what stands out about this style is the cadence and the elegance of the movement.
Bachata
Bachata is a form of music and dance that originated in the countryside and rural marginal neighborhoods of the Dominican Republic. Its subjects are usually romantic; especially prevalent are tales of heartbreak and sadness. In fact, the original term used to name the genre used to be "amargue" ("bitterness," or "bitter music"), until the rather ambiguous (and mood-neutral) term became popular.
Bachata grew out of - and is still closely related to - the pan Latin-American romantic style called bolero. Over time, it has been influenced by merengue - a fast paced danceable music also native to the Dominican Republic - and by a variety of Latin American guitar styles.
